KAREN KILEY-BRABECK, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist Specializing in
Pediatric Neuropsychological Assessment

My Background and Training

I am a licensed psychologist and health service provider in the state of Massachusetts. I received my Ph.D. in Psychology at Fordham University. Prior, I earned my Master’s and undergraduate degrees at Boston College in the Developmental and Educational Psychology and Human Development programs, respectively. I completed my post-doctoral fellowship and became licensed as a psychologist in 2007. Since that time, my primary goal has been to help families and children with special needs.

Families come to my practice with different concerns. Some families feel that “something isn’t right.” Other families are having trouble developing an educational or treatment plan for their child. And there are parents who need diagnostic clarification or to see if their child is “getting better” or “making progress.”

Before starting my private practice in March 2015, I spent seven years as a licensed psychologist/pediatric neuropsychologist at Pediatric Health Care Associates, PC (PCHA). My time at PHCA was on the forefront of integrating behavioral health into a primary care setting. I valued my time working with the physicians, allied health professionals and providers at PHCA. During that time, I also worked at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children’s – Lurie Center, a specialized, multi-disciplinary center for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related conditions.

Prior to joining the staff at PHCA, I worked as a licensed psychologist at the Integrated Center for Child Development, formerly the Children’s Evaluation Center. At ICCD and CEC, I trained and worked under the supervision of Rafael Castro, Ph.D., one of the leading experts in the field of Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

In my field, being up to date on empirically-based practices is critical for supporting children and families. I stay abreast in current research and applications through memberships in the International Dyslexia Association, American Psychological Association, and Massachusetts Neuropsychological Society.

My work centers on listening to families, hearing concerns, performing assessments and creating programs that foster strengths and support skills that are more difficult. No two students are alike. No two families have the same concerns. Each family is on their own journey and I’m always grateful when a family trusts me to be part of their process.

My Practice

In my current practice, I provide focused attention and care to children and their families. I specialize in pediatric neuropsychological assessments for children 3–16 years of age. Using a collaborative approach, I work with parents, advocates, physicians, teachers, mental health professionals, special education attorneys, therapists (OT, PT, [simple_tooltip content='Speech & Language Pathologist']SLP[/simple_tooltip]), and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to gain a detailed understanding of the presenting concerns.

My clinical work involves first identifying both strengths and vulnerabilities in a child. Subsequently, I offer an individualized treatment plan with thoughtful recommendations, to guide a family in how to best support their child.

I am working as an advocate with one of your clients. I just wanted to take the time to tell you that I find your testing to be very thorough. I am very impressed with your strong, specifically geared recommendations - which is a huge component in getting children services they need in the school system.

I have read a tremendous amount of Neuropsych. reports in the 15 plus years as an advocate and school psychologist- from well-known hospitals in Boston, and private practice, and I mean it when I say, I find yours to be top notch. I have tested over a thousand students myself, so I understand the amount of work it takes in writing the reports and how time-consuming it is. I appreciate the effort you put in!
